Chestnut (Castanea)

Trees with cupula prickly or hooked thorny, spherical and starch-rich fruits, mostly grown in the Mediterranean region. The leaves of the chestnut tree are a little hard, the edges are serrated and the tips of the teeth are thorny. Chestnut tree mostly likes rocky slopes and sandy soils. It does not grow in calcareous soils.
